The nature of time.

Physics, philosophy, and theology, are windows into ourselves, our universe, and the mind of God. Combining space-time from General Relativity and what we know about causality from quantum mechanics, we can open a window for in-depth exploration of arguments for the existence of God, the reality of free will, and our understanding of Divine providence.

Developing and safeguarding AI.

Many neutrino experimenters employ and develop the tools of artificial intelligence. However, AI tools come with known and unknown levels of uncertainty. Dr. Psihas is an expert in the development of AI tools for particle physics, where AI uncertainty quantification is critical to deliver precision measurements.

Neutrino Physics

Neutrinos have been found to oscillate in experiments in the late 90s, demonstrating that they were nothing like we originally expected. The NOvA experiment and others study neutrino oscillations to increase our understanding of these particles. Dr. Psihas has contributed to some of the most precise measurements of neutrino oscillations ever made.

LAr Doping for Particle Detectors

Photosensitive dopants have need shown to enhance the ionization charge in liquid argon (LAr) detectors. Demonstrating this technology for detectors like DUNE could open a window into low energy signals, increasing the physics capabilities of DUNE Phase-II. Add xenon to these dopants, and we could enable searches for the rarest of processes in nature.
